1. Visit Shirakawa-go 白川郷
Shirakawa-go is a village where Japanese traditional houses called Gassho style are located. Winter is the best season to visit; however, visiting in the summer is also beautiful.
2. Visit Hida Takayama 飛騨高山
Takayama’s old town is quite enjoyable to visit since there are many shops that sell local food and items such as sake, miso, and crafts, etc. At Hida Folk Village, you can enjoy the traditional and historical scenery of Japanese houses.
3. Visit Yoro Falls 養老の滝
According to a legend, the water of Yoro Falls (養老の滝）became sake. And popular Japanese Izayaka chain stores are named after this fall.
4. Visit Mino City 美濃市
Mino city is located in the center of Gifu which is known for Washi paper. You may visit Mino Washi no Sato Kaikan 美濃和紙の里会館 to learn about the traditional Japanese papyrus and art forms.
